Complete in Christ

To be complete in Christ, is to know that you are in the right season, even when you do not have all the answers.

It is to live with the understanding of your identity; purpose sufficiency found in Christ. In a world that’s used to telling people they are not enough, successfully, attractively, spiritually, Colossians 2:10 brings clarity “And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power”.

This completeness is not about perfection, rather, it is about a fullness and deep-rooted identity in Jesus that cannot be shaken by external situations and circumstances.

Before Christ, we were deficient, trying to find our identity and purpose from numerous places. But with Christ in the picture, He makes us whole by healing the broken, redefining the rejected, and empowering the weak.

This wholeness is both a gift and a truth to be lived out daily.

Living From Acceptance

Living from Acceptance

As a believer, one of the most important shifts in mindset is moving from trying to earn God’s love to living confidently in the love already given. Ephesians 1:6 says, “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

Often, Christians become weary as they try to prove their worth to God or others, forgetting that we are saved for good works, not by good works (Romans 4:1-3). Completeness in Christ means we don’t have to strive for what we already have, we are fully accepted, deeply loved and entirely embraced.

Think of this, that you have always served in your local assembly with zeal – organising events, leading worship/prayer, looking after the children, never missing a service – but you have a gnawing feeling of not being or doing ‘enough’. I’d like to signpost you to Colossians 2:10 and remind you that you are already complete in Christ. Your service can move from being a burden to being joyful and your value isn’t based on performance but on the finished work of Christ.

Confidence in the Midst of Brokenness

Confidence in the Midst of Brokenness

While we are complete in Christ, we still face loss, trials and moments of doubt. Our completeness doesn’t eliminate hardship, it redefines it. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, assuring us that even in times of trials, Christ empowers and sustains us.

Christ doesn’t promise a pain-free life, rather, He promises His presence and sufficiency in the midst of it. Being complete in Christ means we can face life with confidence because He is our firm foundation. We are not looking for something or someone to fill us; we live from a place of fullness.

You might be experiencing some form of loss now – lost a job, ended a friendship or relationship, not financially buoyant – which is making you feel like a failure. I implore you to rediscover Colossians 2:10, begin to re-anchor your identity in Christ, and set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.

In Christ, we are not defined by what we lose, our security is not in circumstances, but in the One who never changes.

Conclusion

To be complete in Christ is to be full to the brim, indicating that nothing else is needed.

It is to walk in the assurance that nothing more is needed to be loved, valued, or partnered with by God. This truth transforms how we view ourselves, how to react to situations and how relate to others.

Jesus is not an addition to our lives; He is the source of it! And in him, we are not lacking.

We are whole!

The wholeness you long for will not be found in the next achievement, relationship or season; it’s found in Christ, the One who calls you His own.
