Life is full of highs and lows. Some days are filled with joy and laughter, while others bring challenges that test our strength. In the midst of uncertainty, one truth remains constant; God is good 100% of the time. This truth is not dependent on our circumstances, emotions, or perspectives. God’s goodness is eternal and ever-present, even when we struggle to see it.
From the very beginning, God’s goodness has been evident. Genesis 1:31 tells us, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” His creation was perfect, and His intentions were pure. Though sin entered the world and brought brokenness, God’s nature never changed. He remains a God of love, justice, mercy, and grace. God is not good only when things are going well; He is good, period.
Seeing God’s Goodness in Difficult Seasons

It’s easy to recognise God’s goodness when things are going well. But what about in seasons of loss, disappointment, or uncertainty? Does His goodness waver when life gets tough? The answer is a resounding NO.
Romans 8:28 assures us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This verse does not suggest that everything that happens is good, but rather that God is able to bring good out of every situation. Even in our suffering, He is present, shaping us, refining us, and drawing us closer to Him.
A powerful example of this is Joseph’s story. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned, his circumstances were anything but good. Yet, looking back, he told his brothers in Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” Even when we can’t see it, God is always working behind the scenes for our good.
Choosing to Trust in God’s Goodness

Faith is trusting God even when we don’t understand. There will be moments when life feels unfair, and we might question why certain things happen. However, our faith should not be built on circumstances but on the character of God. Psalm 34:8 invites us to experience this for ourselves: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
One of the most practical ways to trust in God’s goodness is through gratitude. When we intentionally focus on the blessings in our lives, our perspective shifts. Gratitude helps us remember that, even in the darkest valleys, God’s goodness is still present.
As believers, we are called to be ambassadors of God’s goodness. This means extending grace, kindness, and love to those around us, sharing testimonies of how God has been good to us, and encouraging others to place their trust in Him.
Jesus demonstrated God’s goodness through His life, death, and resurrection. His sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate proof of God’s unwavering love. Even when humanity was at its worst, God gave His very best, His Son, for our redemption.
No matter what life brings, God is good 100% of the time. His goodness is not dictated by our emotions or circumstances. When we anchor our faith in this truth, we find peace, strength, and hope that transcends understanding.
God is good — yesterday, today, and forever.
Let us hold on to His promises, declare His goodness, and live in the confidence that He never fails.
